The Umbrella and Low/High in Slots

With the increasing popularity of online slot machines in the U.S., people have tried to work out strategies to calculate winning chances. There are several ways to calculate the odds and probability of hitting the jackpot. However, these strategies do not guarantee you a win all the time owing to the unpredictable nature of slots.

In this article, we describe a couple of strategies for 5-coin slot machines. The first one is called the Umbrella strategy. The strategy is named that way because the bets you place will be small in the beginning and will increase to the maximum and finally decrease to smaller values. The Umbrella adopts the pattern style strategy. Additionally, it helps players from both ends of the spectrum – the conservative and the aggressive. Here, you have the flexibility of deciding how much to bet at each stage. The betting patterns traditionally applied are 1-1-3-3-5-5-4-4-4-2-2, 1-1-1-1-3-3-3-5-5-5-4-4-4-2-2-2-2, 1-1-3-3-5-5-5-4-4-2-2, etc. It is evident from the pattern that you need to start with smaller bets and increase to the maximum of 5 coins. You would then decrease to smaller values. Alternately, you can also start with the lowest bet of 1 coin and end with the same value, e.g. 1-1-2-2-3-3-4-5-4-3-3-2-2-1-1. In each of these examples, you are not sticking to the 5-coin bet for long. However, you can play with the 5-coin for an increased length of time too, e.g. 1-2-2-3-4-4-5-5-5-5-3-2-2-1.

One major disadvantage of this strategy is that you need to stick to the pattern without considering the result of the pull obtained in the previous bet. However, the pattern you adopt can be modified based on your mindset. If you are more conservative, you wouldn't have to stick with the 5 coin bet for long. This strategy ensures that you minimize your losses in the long-run, even when you are not making a lot of money.

The high/low strategy for 5 coins is similar to the approach adopted for 3 coins. Here, you can choose to place a spread bet that consists of 2/5 coins or if you wish, 3/5 coins. In either case, there is no bet in between. In this strategy, you have to consider loss limits as well as naked pulls. However, the point is you will be betting lower when you are losing and higher when the odds are favoring you.

Additionally, you can vary the strategy that you previously used. Earlier, when you win money on third level bet, you increased the value to 5 coins. And, you had stayed on the 5-coin level for a single play and moved back to 3-coins for the next bet. And then, depending on the result of the spin, you decided to move higher. You can actually modify this strategy, wherein you play 5 coins till the time you receive no returns. Now, you decrease the value to 3 coins and play in the same level till you receive returns.

This strategy is perfectly suited for aggressive players who wouldn't want to keep increasing and decreasing constantly.
